Gaza Family Project

From October to November 2023, we filed lawsuits against the Biden administration for failing to protect Americans trapped in Gaza. These lawsuits gained widespread media coverage and helped over 80 Americans return home. However, the people we evacuated returned home traumatized, having left behind hundreds of immediate family members: parents, children, siblings, etc.

In response, attorney Maria Kari, in collaboration with the Arab American Civil Rights League (ACRL), launched the Gaza Family Project (GFP), a program focused on reuniting Palestinian Americans with their relatives in Gaza.

This initiative mobilized dozens of pro bono attorneys and law students nationwide.

Together, we filed humanitarian parole applications on behalf of dozens of families in Gaza, receiving approvals in some cases that meant families separated by war could be reunified with their loved ones in the U.S. The GFP is no longer taking on cases.
